How many treatments do I need to completely remove my tattoo?
On average, most tattoos need 5 to 10 treatments for complete removal. Clients interested in lightening their tattoo for a cover-up may only need 3 to 4 treatments. Almost every client will need multiple treatments to remove the many layers of ink that make up a tattoo. During your complimentary consultation, we will assess your tattoo and determine the number of treatments you will need using a variety of factors, including:
- Tattoo age
- Tattoo size
- Tattoo location
- Ink density
- Tattoo colors
- Type of tattoo (professional vs. amateur)
- Type of ink used
- Pre-existing scarring
- Patient health
Precision Tattoo Removal also offers faster results using the DESCRIBE® PFD Patch. This laser tattoo removal accessory allows us to treat a tattoo up to 4 times in one session compared to the traditional single pass procedure. Ask about the Patch during your free consultation!
How long does it take to remove a tattoo?
The entire removal process is dependent on the number of treatments your unique tattoo is assigned. Treatments are spaced a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks apart to give your skin enough time to heal before undergoing another laser session. Our Trinity laser is designed to shatter more ink with each session, effectively speeding up the fading process and reducing the overall number of treatments needed.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Laser tattoo removal is commonly compared to a rubber band continuously snapping against the skin. Most clients find the procedure to be very tolerable, but a good handful of clients say it feels similar to getting a tattoo applied. Luckily, laser tattoo removal is much faster than tattoo application. Treatments are very quick and last anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the tattoo being treated.
Precision Laser uses the Zimmer Cryo cooling machine to provide superior skin numbing before, during, and after your treatment. This advanced technology maximizes patient comfort and alleviates any pain associated with the laser.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Precision Laser provides per treatment pricing based on the size of the tattoo being treated. We also provide complimentary, obligation-free consultations for new and existing clients. Treatment packages and discounts are also available for purchase and are designed to save you more.
Is laser tattoo removal safe? Are there any side effects?
Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for removing unwanted ink. Precision Laser uses FDA-approved laser technology and customized protocols unique to your skin type and tattoo to ensure your skin receives the safest, most successful treatment and results.
Clients may experience temporary swelling, redness, blistering, scabbing, and pigmentation changes immediately following treatment. All of these side effects are natural reactions to the laser and will heal over the weeks following treatment. As long as clients follow proper aftercare instructions, their skin will experience excellent results.
Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up or remove only a specific part of my tattoo?
Yes! Whether you want to completely remove a tattoo, lighten your tattoo to prepare for a cover-up, or remove a portion of your tattoo without erasing the surrounding ink, Precision Laser can deliver.
Our Astanza Trinity laser can precisely target and remove parts of your tattoo, like a name, design element, or shading, while leaving the surrounding ink intact.
Tattoo removal is also a great tool for lightening existing ink and creating a cleaner canvas for a cover-up piece. Our owner can even connect you with a talented cover-up tattoo artist after your fading session – ask your laser tech for more information!
